Recent Accounting Pronouncements |
15. RECENT ACCOUNTING PRONOUNCEMENTS In August 2020, the FASB issued ASU 2020-06, “Debt – Debt with Conversion and Other Options (Subtopic 470-20) and Derivatives and Hedging – Contracts in Entity’s Own Equity (Subtopic 815-40: Accounting for Convertible Instruments and Contracts in an Entity’s Own Equity,” which reduced the number of accounting models for convertible debt instruments and convertible preferred stock, thus simplifying the accounting for convertible instruments. ASU 2020-06 is effective for annual periods beginning after December 31, 2021, and interim periods within those annual periods, and is therefore effective for the Company as of January 1, 2022. Management is evaluating the impact that the adoption of ASU 2020-06 will have on the Company, including, but not limited to, the accounting for the Company’s noncontrolling redeemable Operating Partnership Units. |
